Fasting weight loss program – Is Fasting for weight loss dangerous?

I always thought that a fasting weight loss program was dangerous for my body. There are so many different ways that are preached to lose weight on the marketplace. That was when I came across a program that preached "eat-stop-eat."
A person's body is in need of nutrition. It is what fuels our energy and it is what makes our muscles and brain work. With a fasting weight loss program, does it not make sense that your body's life functions would be in jeopardy? Is it not like how stopping the oxygen from a fire will extinguish the blaze? Well, I found that the answer was no.
However, there are important differences between starving yourself which can lead to damage to your body. A fasting weight loss program will give you amazing results if the program is done correctly. Starving yourself will actually decrease your metabolism which will in turn, not allow you to lose weight.
Another option other than a fasting weight loss program is to eat the correct foods (nutrition) at the correct times. Opposite of a fasting weight loss program is to "trick" your body's metabolism into high gear by eating foods that increase metabolic rate, while satisfying your cravings. Now doesn't that sound better than just fasting?
It has also been preached that eating just before bedtime will make you gain weight because you are not burning any calories while you are sleeping. This is also a false statement. Now, it is true that if you bury your face in a huge bowl of ice cream every night just before bed, that you will see the pounds increase, but if you eat the right food, you actually can and will continue to burn calories while you are dreaming.
Who would have every thought that eating could be a way to lose weight?
In conclusion, there are many different ways to diet, and to lose weight. The spectrum of programs is wide, from spending hour upon hour in the gym, to a fasting weight loss program, to proper nutrition for weight loss. For someone who does not have the time to spend in the gym, and someone who does like her food, I choose to eat the right foods at the right time. How about you?
